TARTAN TIMBER

Tartan Timber is a supplier of firewood logs, kindling and log stores, delivering around The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park areas to a variety of trade and domestic customers.

All of our timber comes from local forests, mainly from the wind blow from the storms. The wood is collected by our own timber lorry and is stored at our yard for around 12-18 months to season.

We then process the wood using our Palax Processing Machine. This uses its circular saw to cut the wood into a variety of lengths between 6" and 9". It is then split using 16tons of hydraulic force pushed through a 2/4 way splitting axe. Larger logs can be cut to order and are available when bought in bulk.
The wood is then stored in our air drying sheds until a moisture content of around 20-25% is obtained. The seasoned firewood is then ready to be delivered to your door.

IMPORTANT

Please note - at this time of year the humidity in the air is high which means seasoned logs can start to reabsorb the dampness from the air. It is important to remember that although our logs are seasoned they will need to be brought indoors 24-48 hours before use to be ready to use efficiently on your stove/fire.

All of our kindling is made from waste kiln dried wood and perfectly complements the beeswax firelighters for starting your fire with.

We source, haul and process all of our firewood and kindling so you are buying direct, with no middle man.
